VARSITY VS NYAOPE

South African townships have been experiencing social problems in the past, one of which is substance abuse. Nyaope has become a household substance destroying lives of young people in Soshanguve and other surrounding areas.

The Tshwane University of Technology Soshanguve campus is one of the places that experience the negative effects of Nyaope. The “nyaope boys” have turned the campus gate into their smoking zone with allegations of them selling the drug. With such activities taking place at the University’s entrance, the respect and dignity that the institution holds is at risk. Community members and parents fear for their children’s future and safety.

The university entrance is not only a ‘hot spot’ for them; they also earn money from being taxi marshals and use the money to feed the addiction.  “It’s not that we don’t respect TUT man, it’s just that sometimes a man has to do whatever it takes to make a living and for us TUT entrance is the hot spot”, said an anonymous ‘nyaope’ smoker.

It seems as if not much is being done in terms of legal action, for they still operate and smoke freely around the students and the institution’s securities.

TALENTED DRUMMER!!! "SABU"

Drumming Legend Sabulela“Sabu” Satsha

Sabulela “Sabu” Satsha 23-year is one of the talented drummers in South Africa. He recorded with one of the biggest gospel groups in South Africa Joyous Celebration. He has been playing for the group for the past seven years. Unfortunately, he was playing for the Joyous celebration 17 live recording for the last time. He was known as one person who used to enjoy playing drums; he could play drums for the whole day without stopping. He is inspiring a lot of young people out there with his skills of drumming. Sabu as a talented drummer he also played for a lot of artists such as Keke Phofoolo and Ntokozo Mbambo. Professionally he was launched into the industry in 2004; where he was resident drummer on a gospel TV series titled “It’s Gospel Time”. I believe as Sabu leaving Joyous Celebration they will never find someone like him. He is indeed a legend

HE IS EVERYWHERE, THE BOSS!

Dr Malinga!A vocalist and KICK DANCER . A well known man from Hamanskraal Themba Chris Hani is going BIG! HE IS WELL KNOWN BY THE SONG "father to be" and mostly " VIA ORLANDO". This hit is being  played daily on radios, cars and clubs too.

 It was the toast of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, and tweeps kept commenting on "Malinga's" great tune. He has travelled a lot entertaining people with his music. His song Via Orlando was the song of the year for 2012.

We've all seen his great performances and unusual dance moves, which he calls "the linga dance. He is not just an entertainer, but a husband and a father. His album will be coming out soon. The nation is expecting hits from him.

As a journalism student I learn a lot of stuff every day. Journalists work in many areas of life, finding and presenting information. We are men and women who present the information as news to the audiences of newspapers, magazines, radio or television stations or the Internet.

Pretoria news

Pretoria news is an independent newspaper. It is in a print format. It does not cater for all people, it has certain people it caters people from the ages of 18-40. The multimedia that it uses is print. The edition is enhanced with the latest digital tools, including RSS feeds, social networking, blogging and much more. It also has an interactive radio which informs us about the latest stories. Pretoria news lacks the use of videos. A lot of people who are reading the Pretoria would want to see what they read. It also focuses more on business news but not business news of the government. In the Pretoria news the stories are long and they can bore the readers, sometimes the readers don’t want lot of information as it can shifts away their concentration.

SABC Online

The SABC’s core business is to deliver a variety of high quality programmes and services through television and radio that informs, educates, entertains and supports the public at large. The SABC’s main focus is everything that happens worldwide, be it business, sports, entertainment and worldwide news. SABC should have more than 3 television stations. It has been existing for a lot of years even today it still has a lot of radio stations that the television stations. The New Age Online

The New Age is the government-run newspaper; most of its news is about the government. The New Age has become in of the top newspapers in South Africa. The elements of multimedia it uses are; blogs, videos and you can also listen to the news online. It also has a free online radio. The New e should also focus on the international news. It’s so frustrating and boring to always read about what is happening in the government.
